Sauna Cladding Calculator: How Many Timber Boards Do You Need?
Cladding a sauna yourself means working out how much tongue-and-groove timber to buy for the walls and ceiling without over-ordering expensive aspen or cedar. Enter the room size and your board size and this tool gives you the cladding area, the number of boards, and the linear metres, with a cutting waste allowance built in.
Room and board dimensions
The result already includes a 10% allowance for cuts, offcuts and the odd damaged board. "Board cover width" is the width the board actually shows once the tongue is hidden in the next groove, which is a few millimetres less than the timber's full width, so use the cover figure from the supplier if you have it.
