Sauna Capacity Calculator: How Many People Fit in a Sauna?

Two planning figures do most of the work: allow about 60cm of bench per seated adult and roughly 190cm along a wall for anyone who wants to lie down. A room can look big on paper yet seat far fewer people than you'd think once you account for corners and the door.

These figures assume a single tier of benches. Fitting a second, lower tier along the same walls, which most saunas over about 190cm tall can take, gives you extra perching and foot room and can lift the seated headcount for a full house. Remember the top bench is the hottest seat, so that is where most people gravitate.
